So let me get this straight:

The young couple worry and fret that the Internet might be spoiling their little Chotu. They invest in child protection programs. They worry that FTV and its lingerie shows shows might lead Chotu the wrong way; so they get a television with a child lock facility.

They keep their son away from that boy from next door (because of his new mms enabled mobile phone)

And then they see their son reading the Times Of India and they congratulate each other for being good parents?
Read this article. Got this from Sujatha's blog. They are accusing JK Rowling of writing porn! Good lord! The one lady who managed to keep the kids from the idiot box is accused of hooking the kids with erotic literature!

I love the conclusion. Read it.
Thanks to Shweta who sent me this link.

Unbelievable. That was the FRONT PAGE of Times Of India the day after tragedy struck Mumbai.

I want to meet the editor of this newspaper. What a ****ing dickhead.

Words fail me.

agree with u 100%...sleaze is the realm of tabloids, not broadsheets.so it irks me when mainstream papers print such crap.learnt from the Audit Bureau of Circulations that TOI has the highest broadsheet circulation in the world, even surpassing the numbers of USA today and the NYT, while the latter two still function as Newspapers with revenue mainly from advertising, TOI rakes in some moolah on their editorials-jokingly reffered to as advertorials.....despite all this, they r number 1.its not a lack of options.... all this means only one thing..INDIANS LOVE SLEAZE!!!

It will be interesting to see whether papers like HINDU and IE continue to take the high road....both are facing stiff competition from the tabloidesque style of DC.

Audit burearu of circulations?! Man you are well informed!

DC is one of the largest circulating papers here in hyderabad..

As far as chennai is concerned, DC hasn't made a dent in Hindu's circulation per say, but they have done really well for themselves.

Its not like they have gone past chennai unrecognised or anything!!

Most people predicted that DC would do miserably and doesn't stand a chance in Chennai. But clearly thats not the case.

Yeah, it will be very interesting! I guess your dad will know better than all of us!

I know atleast half a dozen people who have stopped The Hindu and now subscribe to DC. Plus, the ICICI offer is really tempting as well!

but then this is post is about TOI !

More "Fun Times" can be witnessed at http://punetimepass.blogspot.com, a blog that disses Pune Times, the Pune city supplement brought out by the Times of India. I have lived in Pune for two years of my life, and I can safely say that Pune Times is not good, but it is not a patch on how horrible Bombay Times can be.

Those two pieces were outrageous indeed..

Unfortunately for JKR, everyone wants to make something out of her popularity.. :p

The second piece was in very bad taste though.. In fact I couldn't believe they actually published that. Heartless morons..

Agreed, toi may be an awful paper. But look around you. What makes you think that the vast majority of its readership has refined literary tastes? In my opinion, toi serves a totally utilitarian purpose, that for which it is meant (and known), id est, to get news to people and leave the job of forming judgements to them.
